Narada Bhakti Sutras - Day 2

 Love Knows No Conflicts

    • There is a major difference between desire and intention.
    • All our actions happen through intention except for what happen involuntarily.
    • An intention with that feverishness with great hurry to achieve something is desire and desire without feverishness, with calm steady serene mind is intention.
    • Desire is the cause of misery.
    • Wisdom is when you recognize the difference between a feverish desire and a well intended thought.
    • In whatever activity you are doing , be centered; be calm and steady - that's the secret.
    • Letting go of the feverishness brings you to the center; it the feverishness in the activity that takes you away from the love which is your very nature.
    • Feeling one with the divinity - I am you, you are me; feeling that oneness - this is the slogan of love.
    • Friendship that arises out of conflict for conflict is no friendship at all; it is convenience. Conflict seems to bring that closeness but this is illusionary.
    • You own the responsibility of someone whom you love, that is oneness for that person but do you feel oneness with this whole creation, this land, earth, sea - that is divine love. Love is not just an emotion it is your very nature.
    • Fire is in conflict with water; fire is in conflict with air but they can not exist without one another; similarly in life conflicting situations arise. Don't try to solve conflict because to solve a conflict you have to be part of it and when you become part of conflict you your self become conflict..:)
    • So if ever conflict arises; if something doesn't fit or suit, you ignore it, be indifferent to it.
    • When you are indifferent to some situation, someone, they don't touch you, they just move away. So be indifferent to conflicting situation, they will pass like a cloud. Indifference takes you to the divine love that is beyond the opposites of love and hatred. At any point if you feel that your love is getting diminished with conflict, brush it aside; at least you save your mind.
    • What do you mean by this oneness - dropping all supports. Sometime this support seems to help but it actually doesn't help. Usually when you are in love and are not able to handle the conflict, you tend to take external supports but you can't do this with divinity; where else will you go…:)
    • Thinking other things as your support doesn't allow you to be 100%. Come what may, there is only one path, one divinity - that is ananyata.
    • Recognize every thing, honor every thing but don't make them your supports.
    • In life take support from so many crutches - money, fame, friendship, relationtionship, your own ego.
    • In any relation what is desirable - the one who is happy, supportive, ready to help you but how can you do this if you are holding crutches
    • Drop all these supports; this is just in your mind that you think that these are your securities. Money is not your security only God is your security.
    • If you depend on divinity for your comfort, you can lend support for others who need it.
    • But if you take support of others someday you will be down. It is fine to make this mistake once but learn and don't repeat it again.
    • You are being supported; that very feeling that you are supported and you are not alone, is bhakti. I am being taken care of, God loves me - this itself is bhakti, devotion. Whatever be the situation but this one though that you are supported will make all the complains in your mind disappear.
    • In this world or in spirituality whenever conflict comes, move with indifference. Name any action or any profession or people there is some or another flaw; but if you keep on looking only these flaws you will become bundle of flaws; you will lose whatever virtue you have.
    • Same is the case with spirituality; if you will go after so many process, do spiritual shopping, read too many books, you will get only confusion and chaos.
    • In any field or activity conflict might arise but just be indifferent to that.
    • See good intention behind actions. When you see the good intention behind others mind, you don't mind it. e.g. a doctor is operating a patient to cure it but he dies, you won't mind it that much; seeing ignorance and stress behind the acts of terrorist, you won't mind that much; compassion arises in you.
    • If at all there is a fight between truth and love, love will win.
    • It the fear of losing love that we even tell a lie. So if you recognize this in a relationship that the intention behind telling a lie is that he doesn't want to lose love, relation sails through.
    • When love is challenged by truth, love fails. That's why people even tell lies to save love.
    • When you love, that love creates space and truth dawns. Eg. When Yashodha maa agrees that Krishna cannot steal butter because there is enough in house and that Gopi's are lying out of jealousy; Krishna himself spoke the truth that he did steal it…:)
    • In world as well as in spirituality follow the sutras of devotion. And when conflict arise love diminishes so when ever any conflict arises in job, family or devotion, just don't pick on it; be indifferent to it.
    • Loving something that you don't know is shradha, the faith.
    • Even in holy scriptures if you find something conflicting, just ignore it. That thing was said to a set of people for some particular reason. Don't hold on to such things. Fanaticism arises due to conflicts. Whenever there is conflict in love, contradiction in love, ignore it because love knows no difference.
    • All conflicts are apparent, they are not real.
    • Being one with the nature of divine love - this is ananyata, non-duality.
    • Love has no rules; no doubt that one who is deeply in love is beyond all rules. Rules belong to the head, love is the matter of heart. Heart knows no conditions or rules. And heart can not blossom if it is not free; freedom brings love and freedom means no restriction yet though you are beyond all the rules in divine love, you have to follow the rules..:)
    • You have to honor scriptures, you have to honor the laws of nature. Because when you don't honor the laws of nature, there is a chance of fall, there is a possibility of fall.
